Male mountain nyala (Tragelaphus buxtoni) stands in front of a huge old tree in the northern woodland zone of Bale Mountains National Park, Oromia, Ethiopia.

Mountain nyala are endemic to the Ethiopian highlands east of the Rift Valley. Up to 50% of the population occurs in the 200 square kilometre zone of Gaysay in the north of the Bale Mountains National Park.
