A Senegal thick-knee (Burhinus senegalensis) perched atop a rock on the shore of Lake Langano, Oromia, Ethiopia.

Known in Europe as stone curlews, this species of thick-knee, pictured at Bishangari Ecolodge in the Ethiopian Rift Valley, is resident between the Sahara and Equator, and in the Nile Valley.
