An adult barn (common) swallow (Hirundo rustica) feeds two of its fledglings, which are perched on a rusty rail next to a meadow on a croft at Laxdale, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland.

This brood was fed with insects gleaned by its parents while flying above a croft meadow managed for winter fodder for the sheep stock.
